1. Watching Adele on the Grammy's
2. Getting a DELIC King Cake in the mail...there goes my diet
3. Gingerbread latte from fake starbucks (barnes and noble cafe)
4. Pinterest (side note: my boss/friend told me that there was this awesome web site that a client told her about that had "something to do with pictures" and "started with a P"...to which I said...Pinterest! She was like "oh yeah...she said it's super new and cool"....I didn't have the heart to tell her it's been around for a while because she was pumped...
5. Nephew in his new shades...(& throwing up a gangster sign- ha!)

Things that didn't make me super happy this week...
1. Watching last week's Greys...note to anyone who has seizures: don't watch it. It will only freak you out and think you can't have children. I'm serious.
2. Stomach flu....which gave me the time to watch aforementioned Grey's episode.
3. Getting an email from my mom that mentioned condoms. Just ew. I'm married...the jig is up.

Okay...so I've been sitting in a Starbucks waiting for hubby to finish up at a ski shop for an hour and STILL cannot figure out how to get the code to display below my button on the blog. I finally conquered the dreaded chevron print creation and was pumped to have a button that you can copy/paste on your blog! However...I tried no less than 3 different tutorials to and all I could get to show up was the button itself but NO code below! a few times I got the dreaded question mark in the blue box but other than that...nada.

So off I go to get more coffee (gotta get the s-bucks while I can) then I'm going to attempt to update my blog header to reflect my new adorable (if I say so) button.

Happy Saturday People...Oh, I also get to shop...at like, real stores. Not in NH!!!!!

Superbowl Recap

Hosted a mini SuperBowl Party yesterday and had a blast! I tried out a pulled pork recipe that I saw on Pinterest...it was d.e.l.i.c.i.o.u.s.

The recipe is super easy...all you need is this:
2Lbs pork tenderloin (trimmed)...I used two 1Lb tenderloins
12oz can of root beer
-Place the meat in your slow cooker, pour root beer over it and cook on low for 7 hours
-After 7 hours, strain the juices out and shred pork with two forks (shreds easily)
-Put back into slow cooker on 'warm' and pour a can of your favorite bbq sauce over the meat
-Enjoy!

We served ours with toasted buns and it was super yummy!

We also got into the spirit and made these (iced sugar cookies):

I made a ton of #10 cookies for Eli but Matt hid them all for the picture...he's a Pats fan and I'm a Giants fan...although I cheered for all the fellow Gators who are on the Pats! Happy Monday People...XO (Superbowl outfit below)

with the whole "no manicures for this chick". So far I've been good...I've painted my own nails and done an "eh, okay" job...until now.
I tried to tackle the elusive perfect red manicure.
I failed miserably.
I don't know if I was nervous about it or what...(perhaps the wine didn't help...but it was red too!)
All I know is that it's all over my cuticles and I've been leaving little red marks all over my papers all day...so annoying. Plus, I start school tomorrow and certainly cannot be leaving red nail marks on those notes, that would just send me right over the edge.
This is where you all come in.
I need help (yes, in more ways than one, but let's focus on the nails for now).
What can I do to stop the nail graffiti...is it just with red nails?
Do I need a better top coat?
Does this happen to anyone else? (please please humor me and say yes).
HELP ME!(notice I put that in red)

So I woke up this morning and totally had the urge to just clean out everything in the house...and my closet in particular. It might be due to the upcoming move (and packing- yikes!) but I wanted to have a major overhaul.
Oh, and hubby let me clean out his closet too...there were some vintage goodies in that one...Nordica duds circa early '90s...yeah!
Anyway, while I was doing this I realized that there are some classics that I'll always have in my closet:

3. Black pencil skirt

Okay people...I have found the best product on the planet. It's a mascara and it's called MultiplEYE from Tarte. As much as I try to look put together every day, sometimes the only thing I can manage to put on is some concealer and this mascara...yes, I will take that extra 2 (very valuable minute) to put this mascara on...it's THAT GOOD.

Yes it's two steps but it is so worth it. It makes my eyes pop. The only downfall is that it is on the pricey side of mascara (at $22 for the base and $24 for the mascara) but believe you me I would not recommend something that isn't worth it. I'm super excited about it...My only hope is that i'll be able to stay awake for the whole thing (it's from 6pm-10pm) once a week. As I told you all before, every year I make an "inspiration board" with one of my bff's. I just completed this year's and thought I'd share:

As you'll notice, the majority of pics on this years' are of house interiors...that's because hubby and I are MOVING! We are officially closing on our new house in February (fingers crossed...I'm superstitious) and I couldn't be more excited. Another big thing on there is a quote that says "Respect Your Body"...I'm going to really try this year and take better care of myself (which will hopefully lead to no more seizures!). I'm going to limit stress and try to "slow down" when I get too caught up in work, football season etc.

Hope you all had a great weekend...I'm off for a run with a new playlist (which I'll post later for those interested) then we're going to watch TEBOW take on the Steelers!!!

2011 was quite a year...I started off thinking it'd be cool to have brown hair:

Then realized that I have way more fun as a blonde (even if the maintenance is a b-tch

I made it all the way through a seemingly never-ending winter (which included lots of skiing and drinking...for warmth of course). Finally Summer came, I turned the big 2-5 and learned to waterski

at the end of summer hubby and I celebrated our 1 year anniversary and took on football season with renewed resolve and a new hardened and more positive outlook (that lasted for much longer than anticipated...and I didn't hand out any verbal lashings...a victory in itself). Oh, and I discovered the awesomeness that is instagram (follow me...lteevens)

Finally we wrapped up the year with a fun weekend in Boston with the bestie (Whit) and hubby (who was a good sport among all awesome chicks)...

Overall 2011 was a year of ups, downs and learning experiences. I learned that stress and anxiety can play a part in your health. I learned that a positive attitude and sense of humor can get you through anything. I learned that I really like red wine. I learned how awesome Pinterest is. I learned that patience is an ever-evolving virtue...but one that you can improve if you set your mind to it. I learned that confidence is one of the best qualities to have...believe in yourself and everyone else will follow. What is the most important lesson that you've learned this past year?

Pre-New Year's Resolution

Stop spending unnecessary money! Hubby and I are in the midst of something exciting (no, I'm not preggo) and I want to show him that I can in fact save money. I took a peek at my credit card bill this past month...there were definitely some items on there that were not absolutely necessary (everyone needs 3 new pairs of lululemon pants right?!)...so I am really going to make an effort to buy only things I need. (at least for now).

I even went to far as to download a "money-saving" app (it was free...hubby already asked) called mint. Check it out...it's actually really cool and eye-opening, especially because it breaks down your expenditures into categories and allows you to see what area (groceries, taxes, shopping etc.) you spend the largest % of money on.

Anywhoo...I know you all don't care about my finances but you might care to hear what I'm eliminating (again, at least for now)...mani/pedi's. I've seen all these cool pictures on Pinterest (thank god that's free) of people doing their own nails and I think that I can certainly do that as well...plus I like my nails short with no frills (re: acrylics etc.)

Back to work I go

Today was my first day back at work after Christmas. There were mixed feelings about it...part of me wanted to stay in la-la land and lay around forever but another (more organized) part of me was ready to get back into a routine that didn't involve drinking wine, presents and sleeping. I got up, got a ride to work from hubby (still not driving) and set to worky.

I ended up getting a lot of things done...and better yet, there was a very limited number of annoying interruptions! Hooray!

Another good thing about today was that I ran for the first time in what seemed like FOREVER...and I didn't keel over and die or have a heart attack. I just sweated profusely instead...I guess it's going to take a little more than one run to get me to this:

I just need to keep my eye on the prize...this picture will definitely be on my inspiration board for 2012. I've been slowly collecting photos for it and will most likely put it together next week (along with writing down my resolutions).

Do any of you create an inspiration board? I have mine hanging right above my desk so that I can see it every time I sit at my computer...I'll post a picture of it tomorrow if I get my shit together and don't get too embarrassed by it.

Like seriously, I'm losing it. There were a few times today where I completely forgot what I was supposed to be doing or what I was talking about. I'm going to blame it on the increase in medication but not sure how much longer that excuse is going to work...

All I can do is laugh about it. Here's a good one from today...I made cookies last night for 2 hours for a cookie exchange today. I brought them carefully into work, made sure that no one ate any or even peeked at them...only to forget the f-ing cookies and lock them in my office. I had to have freaking maintenance come and let me back into the office to get the damn cooks!

Oh, and before that I was supposed to let the cat into the barn for the day...so I did...only not really because it turns out she was locked in the mudroom for 12 hours today...oops. Sorry Kitty!

The only thing that I seem to do without issue is go on Pinterest...so off I go...but not before I leave you with something I found on there just now:

love that sign...maybe soon I'll actually be able to have wine again. Oh, and by have wine I mean have more than a 1/2 glass- that's not even really having wine- that's tasting it. BOO!

So I try not to get too personal on here (read: boring!) but I've had a bit of a rough 2 weeks, hence the lack of posts.

I had another random seizure that scared the pants off both myself and my mom, but I had two great doctor's appointments today and have a much more positive outlook on everything. Sometimes you really do just need to take a step back, a deep breath and realize that things are never as bad as they seem.

Oh, and if anyone else needs a little pick-me-up, here's a little something that made me feel better when I read it...it has just the right amount of class and sass!

So I've had a ton on my plate this week including millions of work issues, feeling sick and my car breaking down in the road....I had just taken it in 6-weeks earlier for a routine flush-out and maintenance check-up so you can imagine how bummed I was when the people said I needed lots of $$$ work done. Finally, after many back and forth phone calls to the dealership, I walked in with my "lindsay means business face" (and this outfit) to give them a piece of my mind.

Not sure why but I definitely felt cool in my leather jacket (that I got a redic deal on this past Saturday)! Still waiting for a final decision/offer from the car place but just having told them how I feel made me feel better.

Enough about the rough week...I've been stewing about it long enough. I'm a lucky girl and I just need to remember that when I get down.

Today is the worst day in college football. Today is the day the AD's decide who will no longer be their football coach. I'm still trying to decide who feels it the worse...spouses or children. (nothing is worse than feeling like no one likes or appreciates your dad, your hero!)

I didn't want to watch any tv or read any sports pages/sites because I knew what was coming: firings.

The only thing I keep telling myself is that everything happens for a reason.

My heart goes out to everyone who had a rough time today...keep your chin up and hold your head high. I know it hurts now but it will get better.

I realized that I've never introduced you all to my alter-ego, also known as Sally from Berkley! Long story short, the name comes from a pseudonym I was given after calling into a radio show that was bashing my dad back at Stanford. Sally comes out mostly during football season. I know that I've made a few comments about football on here but I try to keep it relatively tame (Sally has been known to go overboard). She gets very upset when people begin questioning her dad's job, when people make snide remarks about games/calls/plays/qb choices etc. She gets especially angry when people say these things and don't know what they're talking about.

How could you not want to protect this guy! He rocks (and I know he can protect himself just fine too but c'mon).

This season has been okay...we've had our ups and downs but luckily Sally has remained mostly in check. That said, an interesting article popped up in the New York Times that piqued Sally's interest. It basically talks about a coach who had the nerve to say that he won a Rhodes Scholarship/Interview....but turns out that wasn't exactly the case.

I'm sure you're wondering...why would Lindsay, much less this Sally person, care about such a thing. Here's your reason...Sally once got upset at that very person for publicly (and privately) bashing her dad (who had given him a job once). Not cool. Ever. I can hold a grudge longer than almost anyone I know (character flaw...poor hubby).

Let's just say that Sally had a freaking field day when she read this. Oh and Newsflash...probably not the best idea to lie about a Rhodes Scholarship when you work at Yale...you know, where tons of people really have won them. Ticking smart, powerful people off like that is not a smart move (probably why you didn't get one of those scholarships...just sayin')!

This past week I've been browsing my fav site (pinterest duh) for holiday decor inspiration and viola! Here's what I'm digging....

As you can tell, I'm really into glass jars/glass hurricanes etc. I even went so far as to look through the millions of POS things at Pier One to put in mine at home and found nothing! Then I found the photo of the candles in the mason jars filled with epsom salt and I thought "Aha!" that's what I'll do! I'm also going to do my best to incorporate some horns into these displays to make hubby happy (and to also be creative)...pics to come when I get around to putting this stuff together.

Today started off great then got a little trying...so instead of ranting on the blog about how sucky the coaching profession is, I'm going to name the top 3 things I'm thankful for...(crossing my fingers that it will re-direct where my heads at)

1. My family. I have a great hubby (who puts up with my 'tude about football etc.), an awesome mom/dad/brother and extended family who I love dearly. In fact, mom and I had a fab time in Boston yesterday just doing a little shopping and generally just spending time together.
Plus sometimes you just need this:

2. Lucy the dog. I love this dog so much...she got a new "poncho"/"sweater" this weekend from Amy and hubby and I have been calling her Ugly Betty all day (check it out & sorry for the glare)

3. My health...we had a minor scare last year with the random incident but since then I've been grateful for my health each and every day...and try to remember that when I get caught up thinking of minor things.

Sad and funny at the same time

So we had a minor situation at the Knittle house on Monday evening...allow me to set the stage.

Hubby and I were talking upstairs when I hear the footsteps of little Lucy climbing the stairs. I see her head pop out from the stairwell and take her first step almost on the landing when...BOOM...boom...boom....all the way down. Lu lost her footing on the wood floors, slipped and hit every single stair all the way down to the bottom.

I immediately began to cry and ran down to see how she was! There she is (bless her little heart) shaking and trembling gazing up at me with her big brown eyes.

I gently picked her up, checked her for injuries and brought her into bed with me....where I kept a vigil all night whenever she would move or breath loudly (I was very concerned about internal bleeding). The next morning I carried her downstairs and she seemed okay...did a lot of this:

The really sad thing happened today when she went over to grandma's house and refused to go up or down stairs of any kind. I guess I hadn't noticed because I'd been just picking her up and carrying her for the past few times. Apparently she wouldn't climb stairs inside or outside...she even got thrown a ball that went downstairs and she saw where it went and ran in the other direction!

We may need a dog therapist...she seems very upset about all of this. She wouldn't even go up two stairs to the bank this afternoon!

The little diva...she practically had a nervous breakdown...what am I to do! I also can't seem to get that poor picture of her almost getting to the top of the stairs out of my head. We trimmed her feet (which is what caused the problem) but she's still terrified. I only hope that my children (when I have them in many years) don't fall down the stairs like that! So everyone...I hope that this little story/crisis brought a smile to your face :) Happy Hump Day XO

Sorry that I've been MIA this week...it was for two reasons:
1. I was still recovering late Sunday night and Monday from the tailgate party and had no energy or brain power to write a coherent blog post.
2. I have been traveling for work and have been stuck in random hotels/health & fitness clubs in NYC and CT with no good wifi!

I'm finally getting a chance to sit down and post something semi-coherent (it's been a long week already)...my day just got a little better because of a glass of wine and the fact that I am at my final destination (for now). This morning I woke up at 6am (early for this chick) and drove 45 min to work out with bossy-poo at one of the healthclubs we're visiting. After finishing a workout and grabbing starbucks (another highlight) I showered (in my 3rd public shower since Sunday) and got ready for my 11:30 mtg with their marketing team....at 10am.

I waited in their cafe until approximately 12:15pm when I finally looked pathetic enough for someone to come up and ask if I needed anything!!!! Um, yes, I need the people I'm supposed to meet with and a stiff drink ASAP. This then leads to a long boring tour of the club, followed by a session of "brainstorming" and finally meeting with an awesome marketing woman who brought me to a different club and showed me some helpful things! It's now 4:45pm and I'm waiting outside for my "ride" (aka the person who forgot about me this am) who shows up at 5:15pm and drops me off at the hotel where I'm expecting to check in and take a snooze!
Not so fast.
The woman at the front desk of the hotel in wherever the hell I am in NY State can't speak english and tells me that she has already handed out the keys to my room and cannot give me one. So here I am, sitting in the bar of a courtyard marriot swigging wine and blogging. Yup...sweet Humpday for me.

so tailgate prep 2K11 is definitely on. I spent my evening preparing various baked goods (rice krispie treats and chocolate chip brownies)....I also made numerous lists of what we have, what we are on schedule to have and what we need.

Hubby is probably about to kill me...he got home from hunting this morning and had a to-do list already!

Super pumped for this party though...now I just need to decide what to wear!!!!! Thanks for all the comments...they are MUCH appreciated!

Fall! Some days I wished I lived somewhere where you can really fashion it up...this is an outfit I'd love to sport someday....but probably not up here in NH.

So I realized that this dress may actually look like a top (good call whit)...but it is indeed a dress. I wanted to show a luxury side of dressing for fall and felt that this dress along with fur vest, chunky accessories and booties fit the bill. The neutral color palate is spiced up with a shiny red lip! I think that my overall favorite thing about this outfit is a tie between the vest and the mini-antler brooch that's hiding on the vest. Anything with antlers makes me think of hubby and I thought it was fun to incorporate something like that into this outfit!

So What Wednesday Returns!

Okay, so I am on Day 3 of this "diet" and am a little cranky about it. I should have thought about what week I started this thing...if you know what I mean. I'm struggling because I want to eat everything in sight (and out of sight for that matter...I know there's candy in those cupboards). So here goes my "so whats"

1. So what if I eat a million pieces of sugarless gum...I'm trying to trick myself into thinking I'm not hungry
2. So what if those pics of skinny girls and athletic girls aren't motivating me...I seem to be a lost cause today
3. So what if I go under my desk and take a nap...I'm alone in my office all week
4. So what if I want to tell all my co-workers (excluding my favs) to shut up when they come into my office to ask me for something. I don't actually do it...although today I am tempted...
5. So what if all I can think about is food...that's what a diet is supposed to do to you right? Make you think about all the things you can't have!

so far so good with the "diet". I use the quotation marks because I'm only aiming to lose a few pounds...my real goal is to just step up the nutrition and learn to cut back on the sugar (read: candy).

I had a minor issue when i consulted my new App: Lose it (see pic below) and realized that I wasn't eating enough...Love that problem!

I'm using this app in place of a food diary because it has all the nutritional info already in it for most food...major plus!

Of course there is an end goal to this little project...I want to look leaner and feel better (aka not tired all day)...oh, and there's this little motivation right here:

Have any of you ever wanted something so much for someone else that you were constantly thinking that you would forgo anything great that happened to you so it could happen to that other person instead? Or have you ever thought that you'd take all the bad stuff so that the other person could have all the good stuff?

That's kinda how I've been feeling this week. As you know, Dartmouth didn't come out of last weekend with a win (super bummer) and BT was not thrilled. I finally am figuring out how to put my feelings into words about that. I honestly haven't seen him that upset in a while...and it got me to thinking.

Thinking this exact thing: When the hell are things going to go his way. He works harder than anyone I know and constantly seems to be fighting an uphill battle WTF. We (and yes I say "we" because our family puts almost as much into this as he does) saw a glimpse of success in the first game...everything seemed to be falling into place. People were excited and talking about the football team (something that hadn't happened in years).

Then last weekend happened and everyone was doubting again...we took steps backward. Almost everywhere I've gone this week people have asked me what happened..."we thought you guys were good this year". Ah, music to my ears...not.

Here's what really got me thinking this week. I've had kind of a crappy week so far (work etc.) but I'd be willing to take a week 100 times worse if it meant that BT and the team could have 4 hours of good on Saturday. Yep, you heard me right. I'd take a totally sucky week if it meant that the football team could have a big fat win on Saturday.

I'll set the stage for you all now: Picture this...Dartmouth football has never held a night game at home. We just got lights installed this year, and for the first time we are hosting a night game AT HOME under the lights. There are signs up all over the community, a banner across Main Street (thanks to Kirtie) and dozens of road signs going in and out of Hanover. People are actually talking about this game...they are saying it might be sold out! This is the first time since I moved back that there is a "buzz" around Dartmouth Football...and I'd give up anything to make sure that these players and coaches get to experience some positive energy and satisfaction for all of their hard work!

Tell me I'm not alone in thinking like this...that I'm not stupid for wanting to take all the bad luck in order to give someone I love all the good luck.

I know you started singing that song in your head when you read that. Don't lie.

Sorry for the lack of posts this weekend but I was busy and bummed...which doesn't make for great posts. I was busy because Kirtie and I drove down to CT to watch Dartmouth play. I was bummed because Dartmouth lost...and my hair was frizzy.

We left town around 1pm and had every intention of driving to Greenwich to shop (we had the stores all picked out) when we hit rain...lots of it. Literally what should have been a 3 hour drive turned into a 5 1/2 hour drive...which means that shopping didn't happen. We ended up finally getting to the hotel around 5:45 and realized that all of the stores closed at 6pm...bummer. So instead of shopping in beautiful and chic Greenwich, we had wine and watched a football game at Bertucci's next to our hotel.

Oh, then when we got back to the hotel we had to cater to BT's "pre-game rituals"...meaning the room was super cold and in the morning there was no loud talking or jamming to tunes because he was going over the game plan. Oh the other thing...ESPN wasn't working. What hotel that is hosting 75 football players/coaches etc. loses their ESPN channel...not cool.

Moving on...Gameday started off okay...we dressed up as cute as possible for the weather (rainy and humid), sprayed the shit out of our hair so it wouldn't "fro" up and headed to the tailgate (with a mini stop at a TJ Max).

Tailgate was fun...game was not so fun. We lost...and it was ugly. I haven't seen BT that mad in years (literally at least 3 years)...needless to say we got the heck out of there as soon as we said bye to him.

Moving on to Sunday...I went to 2...yes TWO auctions. One benefitted the United Way and was a "purse" auction...the other benefitted the Hanover Rec. Dept. and I went to it for work. I'm now officially done with auctions for the rest of the year. Those things are LONG...and I was still depressed about the game the day before...let's just say it was hard to keep a smile on my face.

All of this brings me to today...Monday....I am a tired and cranky girl today. All I want is my bed and a big fat glass of water (and perhaps some MNF).

Go Big Green! Dartmouth had a big win yesterday over Colgate (30-14)! The whole day was great...started off with a fun workout, shared mimosas with a friend, got ready for the game and enjoyed an awesome game with perfect fall weather (55 and sunny!).

I know that I posted my gameday outfit in Friday fancies...but I ended up wearing something different. Check it out below.

I guess I need to explain why I have two outfits on here! the orange and blue are for my beloved Florida Gators...I'm an '08 grad and will always ALWAYS cheer for the gators!

The green outfit is for Dartmouth. My dad is the football coach there and I live in NH...so of course I dress in green every Saturday in the fall to cheer on BT (aka dad)!!!

First of all, I want to thank Jillian and Alison for an amazing blogger meet-up. It was my first event like that and it was amazing! I got to see my bff Whitney AND meet up with people like me! Everyone I met was so nice and fun to talk to...seriously, it was awesome to meet up with people who are going through the same things as you!

So this past weekend I was talking with my sister(s) in law (Jess this means you) and I ran an idea by them that I've always had in the back of my mind...opening a store.

I've spoken with a few people about this before but until now haven't really taken any of the ideas seriously, but I'm thinking that this could be the time to do it. I mean, we don't have kids yet...and I think I've figured out a great combination store type that will fit into this unique Upper Valley area.

Of course now I can't stop thinking and brainstorming different ideas for this alleged store (names, looks, brands to carry etc.) and one thing keeps popping up. I want an awning, specifically a striped awning to create a warm, welcoming storefront in downtown Hanover.

Anyone out there ever opened their own store before? Tips/Ideas/Suggestions much appreciated!
